Captain Jon's Mid-June Report

Fishing Report – Mid-June

With the summer heat now in full swing, we've been launching trips early around 6:30 AM to beat the midday blaze. Conditions have been ideal lately with calm waters, light winds, and a mix of sunshine. On recent outings, we started our mornings in the creeks and along the river, hunting for redfish. While they’ve been elusive at times, we managed to connect with a few solid fish after some persistence.

Flounder fishing has taken center stage, and it’s been paying off. One trip started slow with just one keeper out of seven, but as the tide rolled in, the bite picked up. On another outing, we doubled down on flounder after landing a nice one early, switching between live mullet, mud minnows, and artificial. That effort paid off with a catch of seven keepers and several more released under the 14" minimum. As a bonus, we also picked up a few Spanish mackerel, perfect for smoking and turning into fish dip. June has been kind to us and it appears that this summer is setting up for some solid fishing.
